1978–79 ice hockey Bundesliga season

The 1978/79 season of ice hockey league was the 21st season of the highest German Hockey League. German champion was the Cologne EC, who was thus able to win his second title. In the 2nd Bundesliga, however, had to dismount the ESV Kaufbeuren and the Augsburger EV. Even before the season starts the ex - champion had to sign Krefeld EV bankruptcy and subsequently withdrawn from the league. Also the EV Rosenheim had financial problems before the season and subsequently merged with the TC Rosenheim, henceforth to participate under the name Sports Federation Rosenheim in the game mode.

Due to the violation of deadlines at club changing still used players also should be the Mannheimer ERC and the SB Rosenheim numerous after completion of the preliminary round points disallowed what would have imposed Mannheim a crash in the relegation round with it. It was only in court, both teams could fight for the preservation of the points.
