1979–80 Football League Cup

The League Cup 1979/80 was the 20th edition of the existing since 1960 English League Cup.

The competition started on 11 August 1979 with the First Round and ended on 15 March 1980 with the final at Wembley. The title went to Wolverhampton Wanderers who defeated the champions of the last two years Nottingham Forest in the final 1-0. Wolverhampton won the League Cup for the second time after 1974 ( 2-1 against Manchester City).
