197th Infantry Division (Wehrmacht)

The 197th Infantry Division was a major unit of the Army of the German Wehrmacht.

History

The Division was established on 1 December 1939 at the Military District XXI ( Reichsgau Warta country in occupied Poland ) near Posen.

On 22 July 1944, the Division in the boiler of Vitebsk, was completely destroyed in the attack Soviet Operation Bagration, the center led to the collapse of the German Army Group.
