1980–81 Czechoslovak Extraliga season

The season 1980/81 1st League was the 38th regular hosting of the highest Hockey Class of Czechoslovakia. With 68 points, TJ Vitkovice prevailed. For the team it was their total second Czechoslovak championship. Slovan Bratislava CHZJD was relegated as a Table in the second division.

Mode

As in the previous season the league was played with twelve teams. Since each team fought out against each group opponent each two home and away games, the total number of matches per team was 44 games. Champion was the winner of the Main Round. The-table rose directly into the respective national championship. For the first time in the history of the first League draw was abolished and replaced by an extension with possible subsequent penalty shootout.

Best scorer of the league was Jiří Lála of Dukla Jihlava, who scored 40 goals in his 44 games of his team. Top scorer was Milan Nový of Poldi Kladno SONP with 32 goals and 48 assists in 44 games.
