1980 Summer Paralympics

The 6th Summer Paralympics were held from 21 June to 30 June 1980 in Arnhem instead. The International Stoke Mandeville Games Federation ( ISMGF ) awarded the Games to the Netherlands, after the Soviet Union did not want to hold the games, although the Summer Olympic Games were held in Moscow the same year. For the first time took Cerebral Movement Impaired athletes in the Paralympics in part.

Participating nations

South Africa - are excluded from the Olympic Games since 1964 - was denied the first time, participating in the Paralympics because of its apartheid regime. The following nations participated:

In the 6th Summer Paralympics competitions held in 13 sports, the volleyball tournament was sitting at these Paralympics, 1976 in Toronto, this still took place standing.
