1981–82 DFB-Pokal

DFB Cup Winners 1982 FC Bayern Munich. Bayern defeated in the final of the 1st FC Nuremberg on 1 May 1982 in Frankfurt 4-2. The Austrians Reinhold Hintermaier scored the Nuremberg lead with a shot from about 40 meters away, the Munich Striker Dieter Hoeness was injured during the game at the top, but played with a head bandage on and scored the last goal with a header in the 89th minute.

Nuremberg beat in the semifinals supposedly surprising the eventual champions HSV and thus prevented the HSV -finals against Bayern. Since 1978 these two clubs were among the most dominant in the Bundesliga. In the European Cup winners Bayern failed in the quarterfinals at the Scottish champions FC Aberdeen.

Cup holders Eintracht Frankfurt already retired on the second main round against Fortuna Dusseldorf predecessor.
