1981–82 European Cup Winners' Cup

The European Cup Winners 'Cup 1981/82 was the 22 playout of the competition of European Football Cup Winners' Cup. 33 club teams from 32 countries took part, including defending champions Dinamo Tbilisi, 26 reigning Cup Winners Cup finalists losing and 6 (FC Porto, Ajax, PAOK Thessaloniki, Politehnica Timişoara, Trakia Plovdiv and Enosis Neon Paralimni ). The Albanian Cup Winners KS Vllaznia Shkoder did not participate.

From Germany were DFB-Pokal winner Eintracht Frankfurt, from the GDR fdgb Cup winners FC 1 Locomotive Leipzig, from Austria ÖFB Cup winner Grazer AK and Switzerland Lausanne-Sports Cup winner at the start.

In the final at Camp Nou, FC Barcelona won its second title after 1979 with a 2-1 win over Standard Liege.

Scorers were together the Georgians Rama Shengelia Dinamo Tbilisi and the Belgian Eddy Voordeckers of Standard Liege, each with six goals.

Mode

The participants played as usual in pure Cup mode with return games the winner. Was there after two games Torgleichstand, the number of away goals scored decided ( away goals ). Was also equal in number to an extension took place in the return game in which was also the away goals rule. Ruled by the end of the extension is still a tie, a penalty shoot-out was performed. The final was decided on one game at a neutral venue. If the score is level after extra time the winner would also have been determined in a penalty shootout.

Preliminary round

The first leg took place on 19 August, the return match on August 26th place in 1981.

First round

The first legs took place on 15-16. September, the second legs take place on 30 September / 1 October 1981.

2nd round

The first legs took place on November 4, 1981 October 21, the return games.

Quarterfinals

The first legs took place on 17 March 1982 on March 3, the return games.

Semifinal

The first legs took place on April 21, 1982 April 7, the return games.
