1981–82 ice hockey Bundesliga season

The 1981/82 season of hockey Bundesliga was the 24th season of the highest German Hockey League and for the time being last to be played with twelve teams. The Abstockung to ten teams had the consequence that descended in addition to the teams that had in the relegation round, with the ERC Freiburg and VfL Bad Nauheim also two clubs directly to the 2nd Bundesliga. German champion of SB Rosenheim, who was able to prevail in the play- offs in the first round against the higher-ranked favorites Landshut, Cologne and Mannheim, and thus won his first championship. The 16- time champions EV Füssen and the Schwenningen ERC were able to secure the league in the relegation round.

The German record champions SC Berliner, however, had to withdraw for financial reasons from the Bundesliga. For the Berlin of the ECD Iserlohn returned as fourth in the relegation round in the 1st Bundesliga after the third placed Duisburg SC had given up the climb.

Mode

After a double round, the top eight teams played in the play- offs from the German champions. All rounds were played out while still in the mode " Best of Three". However, there were changes in the relegation control. The Bundesliga should be abgestockt the following season to ten teams, so that the last two teams descended directly into the second league after the first round. In addition, the relegation round was led back, in the ninth - and tenth -placed 1st Bundesliga met the four best teams in the 2nd Bundesliga. The first two teams in the relegation round, which was played in a single round, qualified for the new Erstligasaison.
