1981–82 UEFA Cup
The UEFA Cup 1981/82 was the 11th edition of the competition. The IFK Gothenburg, coached by Sven- Göran Eriksson for the first time won a club from Sweden a title in the European Cup. The German representative Hamburger SV were beaten in both finals surprisingly.
Mode
The competition was held in six rounds, in home and away matches. In Torgleichstand an extension decided the number of away goals scored, then finally only the penalty shootout.

Hamburger SV was before the two games as a favorite. After the team suffered a late goal in the first leg, she let herself auskontern in the return game and lost significantly. The IFK Gothenburg thus succeeded in the 1981/82 season, the Triple from Swedish championship, national cup and winning the European Cup. This Triple the master coach Sven -Goran Eriksson started his international career as coach of IFK Gothenburg.
