1982–83 Nationale A season

The 1982/83 season was the 61st season of the National A, the highest French Hockey League. Champion for the fourth time in club history the Sporting Hockey Club Saint Gervais. The Club des lyonnais patineurs dismounted in the second division.

Mode

The twelve teams completed in the main round for 22 games. The top eight teams qualified for the final round, in which the Master was played. The points from the main round were incorporated into the final round. The four last placed athlete had to compete against the four best second division side in the relegation. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
