1982 NHL Entry Draft

The NHL Entry Draft in 1982, the annual talent contraction of the National Hockey League, took place on 9 June 1982 at the Montreal Forum in Montreal, Canada, in the province of Quebec instead.

A total of 252 players were taken in twelve rounds. Especially defenders were asked in this year, as there were a number of very good players available at this location. However, the teams with the highest draft positions chose the wrong player. The Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs picked up with their voting rights at the first and third place Gord Kluzak and Gary Nylund. The competition, however, chose Scott Stevens and Phil Housley, who had been spurned by the Bruins and Maple Leafs. With Ray Ferraro and Doug Gilmour later two stars were considered only in the fifth respectively seventh round.
