1983–84 NHL season

The NHL 1983/84 season was the 67th season in the National Hockey League. 21 teams each played 80 games. The Stanley Cup won by the Edmonton Oilers after a 4-1 victory in the final series against the New York Islanders. After 41 years, the Overtime has now been reintroduced in the regular season. Of the 140 games, the draw ended, were einschieden 54 in the 5 minutes sudden death overtime. A third goalkeeper managed the 18 -year-old Tom Barrasso to win in his first season Calder Memorial Trophy and Vezina Trophy. In Edmonton continued to dominate the league Wayne Gretzky. But the success was not just him. With Paul Coffey of the best offensive defenseman was with the Oilers since Bobby Orr. But Jari Kurri, Mark Messier and Glenn Anderson were instrumental in that, after four consecutive titles could dethrone the Islanders.
