1983 Cricket World Cup

The ICC Cricket World Cup 1983 which was held in England from 9 to June 25, 1983, was the third Cricket World Cup. This World Cup was held in the One- Day International format, and was the last in which each team has played each one a maximum of 60 innings over. In the final, India defeated the team from the West Indies and prevented their third win in a row.

Format

In two preliminary round groups of four teams each played against each twice, with a victory four points, a draw or no result earned two points. It qualified the top two in this group for the semi-finals, the winners playing off in the final. Overall, there was thus 27 encounters.
