1983 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships
The 18th Canoe Sprint World Championships took place in 1983 in Tampere, Finland. On four days of competition medals were awarded in 18 disciplines of canoe racing: One kayak ( K1), double kayak (K2) and four kayak ( K4) as well as the one-man canoe (C1) and two - Canadians (C2 ) in men, about 500 each, 1000 and 10,000 meters. For women, it was in K1, K2 and K4 over 500 meters.
The team of the GDR won seven world titles. With Birgit Fischer, who won three titles, presented to the most successful athlete.
