1983 Pan American Games
The IX. Pan American Games were held in the Venezuelan capital Caracas from 14 to 29 August 1983.
Successful nation were the United States with a total of 285 medals.
At the games, reliable Testing conducted by Manfred Donike for the first time in sports history performed on the intake of testosterone. A total of 19 athletes, mostly weightlifters of doping were transferred. Many athletes, including 13 Americans, then withdrew their notification.
