The matches of the 7th Junior A World Championship in 1983 found in the period from 26 December 1982 to 4 January 1983 in Leningrad, Soviet Union instead. The B group was in Anglet, France, pitted, and the newly introduced C- group in Bucharest, Romania.

World cup
The World Cup took place in the Soviet city of Leningrad. U20 World Champion was the host team of the USSR. The team from Norway got off and was replaced by newly promoted Switzerland.
