1984 1. deild

The Faroe Islands Football Championship 1984 was held in the first Deild said first Faroese league and overall was the 42nd season. It started on April 21, 1984 with the play of NSÍ Runavík against B68 Toftir and ended on 22 September 1984.

Up NSÍ Runavík returned after four years back in the top flight. Master was B68 Toftir who could thus win the title for the first time. Defending GÍ Gøta landed in sixth place. Was relegated for the first time, however, B36 Tórshavn as a founding member of the 1 Deild.

In comparison to the previous season, the strike rate deteriorated to 3.16 per game. The highest victory achieved KÍ Klaksvík with a 7-1 in the away game against B36 Tórshavn on Matchday what also represented the highest-scoring game.

Mode

In the first Deild each team to 14 games played two games against each other. The point- best team in the season-ending stable as champions this league, the last team got down to the 2nd Deild.

Course of the season

Cup decision

TB Tvøroyri got the best start with two wins from their first two games, but was then intercepted by B68 Toftir, as TB away lost with 1:2 at Lif Leirvík. B68 had the standings after a 0-1 leave with TB on Matchday at the previously unbeaten team of HB Tórshavn, which in turn lost one match it with 1:2 in the away game against B68, after which both teams were equal on points and B68 due to the better goal difference stood at number one. In the seventh match, there was again a change at the top, 0-2 defeated as B68 away with LIF Leirvík. HB Tórshavn was with two draws initially claiming the lead after the 1-3 home defeat against GÍ Gøta on the tenth Gameday B68 was back on top. By the end of the season they remained unbeaten and thus no longer gave the championship out of hand. However, the decision was made only on the final day. B68 was in this case the 2- point lead with a 1-0 victory against LIF Leirvík not more, so that even the 5-2 away win against TB Tvøroyri KÍ Klaksvík did no more.

Relegation battle

B36 Tórshavn was from the third round consistently at end of table. The first win was on matchday six with a 1-0 win at home against LIF Leirvík, which then were tied with B36 bottom of the table. On the eleventh round of the distance was on KÍ Klaksvík, LIF and GÍ Gøta again three points. By a 2-1 away win against KÍ B36 was able to catch up to a point at KÍ, but won the other two direct competitors in each of their games, LIF 4-1 in the away game against HB Tórshavn and GÍ 3-1 in the away game against NSÍ Runavík. The decision to avoid relegation fell on 13 match day, when LIF and B36 clashed directly, using LIF with a 1-0 kept the upper hand. Since KÍ Klaksvík won the direct duel against GÍ Gøta away 2-1, the distance was unassailable three points ahead of the final day. Since the final 2-0 victory against B36 Tórshavn GÍ Gøta was no use.

National Cup

In the National Cup HB Tórshavn won 2-0 against GÍ Gøta. Master B68 Toftir bowed out with 1:2 and 2:5 against GÍ Gøta.
