1984–85 Football League Cup

The League Cup 1984/85 was the 25th edition of the existing since 1960 English League Cup.

The competition started on 27 August 1984 with the First Round and ended on 24 March 1985, the final in Wembley. The title went to Norwich City, with a 1-0 final victory over Sunderland. Norwich won so in his fourth final game for the second time after 1962 the League Cup. For the first time rose at the end of season two finalists from the Football League First Division in 1984/85 to the second division from. The decisive goal came in the 47th minute when Sunderland defender Gordon Chisholm abfälschte a shot of Norwich Asa Hartford into his own goal. Only five minutes later, Clive Walker missed with a faded hand penalty to compensate for the AFC Sunderland.
