1984–85 NHL season

The NHL 1984/85 season was the 68th season in the National Hockey League. 21 teams each played 80 games. The Stanley Cup won by the Edmonton Oilers after a 4-1 victory in the final series against the Philadelphia Flyers. Before the season, Bobby Clarke ended his career, was his flyer but in a new role as General Manager received. He undertook Mike Keenan as coach, who led the team to the finals. Two years younger than Clarke, Guy Lafleur, who had previously played with Jacques Lemaire in a forward line. During the preseason Lemaire took over the coaching job in Montreal and now Lafleur complained about too little ice age. End of November, he finished the season and announced his retirement. While the "old " went was a new star. Mario Lemieux had made 282 points in the last season with the Voisins de Laval. Now he was the coveted player in the draft. Pittsburgh's general manager Eddie Johnston did not miss the chance and secured the rights to Lemieux. Mario got a contract for three years, which earned him $ 600,000. He returned the favor in the first season with 100 points. Jari Kurri played an excellent season and made it as the third player in NHL history over 70 goals to achieve. With 19 goals in the playoffs he put Reggie Leach's record, among which are four hat tricks, also a record.
