1984–85 SM-liiga season
The SM- liiga season 1984/85 was the tenth season of the Finnish SM- liiga. Finnish Champion was ever as Kiekko - Reipas descent to a total of 16 times and for the first time since the introduction of the SM - liiga Ilves Tampere in the second division.

Regular Season
Mode
The ten teams in the SM- liiga first played in 36 regular season games against each other. While the first four teams for the play- offs qualified, had to play for the league next to last against the teams on the second to fourth the second division. The Last automatically dismounted in the second division and was replaced by the second division champions. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
