1985–86 Nationale 1A season
The 1985/86 season was the 64th season of the National 1A, the highest French Hockey League. Champion for the sixth time overall in club history the Sporting Hockey Club Saint Gervais. The Chamonix Hockey Club and the ASG Tours descended to the second division.
Mode
The twelve teams completed in the main round for 22 games. The top six teams qualified for the final round, in which the Master was played. The six last placed athlete had to compete for the league in the relegation round, the two last placed the relegation round descended directly to the second division, while the third last of the relegation round in the relegation had to play the second division champions. The points from the main round were incorporated into the final or relegation round. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
