1985–86 Serie A (ice hockey) season

The 1985/86 season was the 52nd season of the series A1, the highest Italian Hockey League. Champion for the first time in club history in general of HC Merano. The HC Gherdeina descended to the second division.

Mode

In the main round each of the ten teams played a total of 36 games. The top six teams qualified for the playoffs, where the Master was played, with the top two finishers of the main draws in the first round had a bye. The four last placed the main round had to play in the play- outs to avoid relegation, the losers relegated to the second division. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
