1985 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships

The 19th Canoe Sprint World Championships were held until August 18, 1985 Mechelen, Belgium on 15. Competition venue was the regatta course Hazewinkel.

On four days of competition medals were awarded in 18 disciplines of canoe racing: One kayak ( K1), double kayak (K2) and four kayak ( K4) as well as the one-man canoe (C1) and two - Canadians (C2 ) in men, about 500 each, 1000 and 10,000 meters. For women, it was in K1, K2 and K4 over 500 meters.

With its seven titles, the team of the GDR was the most successful nation in the world championships. With Birgit Schmidt who won three titles, presented to the most successful athlete.
