1986–87 ice hockey Bundesliga season
The season 1986 /87 Hockey - Bundesliga was the 29th season of the highest German Hockey League. German champion was the Cologne EC, so that the first team in 17 years could verteigigen his title. It was also the fifth German Championship Domstädter.
The ten -time German champion SC Riessersee failed, however, in the relegation, the place of Garmisch took a team of BSC Preussen Berlin.

As in previous years, the mode with a double round and subsequent championship play-offs, the best eight teams, while the two last placed athlete had to compete in a relegation round against the best teams in the 2nd Bundesliga, being held.
