1986 FIBA World Championship
The 10th World Basketball Championship was held from July 5 to July 19, 1986 in Spain instead. The 24 teams played in Barcelona, Ferrol, Madrid, Málaga, Oviedo, Zaragoza and Tenerife.

First time, the men qualify for participation in the World Cup, to be held July 20 in Spain with 24 nations on 5. The German team will play in the preliminary round group Málaga, wins against China 81:80 and 88:70 against the Ivory Coast, losing to Puerto Rico 69:81, 76:85 against Italy and against the United States 68:81. Through the worse goal average differs from the German team.
