1987–88 IHL season
The 1987/88 season was the 43rd regular season of the International Hockey League. During the regular season, nine teams denied each of 82 games. In the play-offs, the Salt Lake Golden Eagles prevailed and won the second Turner Cup in their history.

Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Saginaw Generals changed their name to Saginaw Hawks.
- The Indianapolis Checkers have been to Denver, Colorado, moved and changed their name to Colorado Rangers.
