1987–88 NHL season
The NHL 1987/88 season was the 71st season of the National Hockey League. 21 teams each played 80 games. The Stanley Cup won by the Edmonton Oilers after a 4-0 win in the final series against the Boston Bruins. It was the fourth championship of the Oilers within five years the last season with Wayne Gretzky. This failed because of an injury one fifth of the season so that he could not win the Hart Memorial Trophy, the only time in the 1980s and even topped the scorer standings. Both titles went to Mario Lemieux.
