1987 Cricket World Cup

The ICC Cricket World Cup 1987 which was held in India and Pakistan from October 8 to November 8, 1987, was the fourth Cricket World Cup. The World Cup will be held in the One- Day International format, in which each team plays each innings over a maximum of 50 over. In the final, Australia defeated the team from England.

Format

In two preliminary round groups of four teams each played against each twice, with a victory four points, a draw or no result earned two points. It qualified the top two in this group for the semi-finals, the winners playing off in the final. Overall, there was thus 27 encounters.
