1987 Virginia Slims Championships
The WTA Championships 1987 ( also known as the Virginia Slims Championships ) was a WTA tennis hall carpet square tournament for women in New York City. It was part of the WTA Tour in 1987 and was held from 16 to 23 November 1987.
Martina Navratilova in singles and the duo Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver in the double were the defending champions.
In individual Steffi Graf defeated Gabriela Sabatini 4:6, 6:4, 6:0 and 6:4. In doubles, the pair Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver won with 6:1 and 6:1 against Claudia Kohde - Kilsch / Helena Suková.
