1988–89 DFB-Pokal

DFB-Pokal winners Borussia Dortmund in 1989. It was the first title, the Borussia Dortmund won in 1966 and the DFB Cup victory since the 1965 European Cup victory. Norbert Dickel shot in the final two goals against Bremen. Defending champion Eintracht Frankfurt had failed 05 Uerdingen already in the 2nd round at Bayer.

In the subsequent European Cup Winners 'Cup Dortmund failed in the past to participate in the 2nd round of the Italian Cup Winners' Cup and later Cupgewinner Sampdoria.
