1988 Copa Libertadores
The Copa Libertadores 1988 was the 29th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 21 teams took part. It took the national champions of CONMEBOL countries and the second part respectively. The participants completed titleholder CA Peñarol. The tournament began on 29 June and ended on 26 October 1988 with the final second leg. The Uruguayan representative Nacional Montevideo won the final against CA Newell 's Old Boys and won for the third time the Copa Libertadores.
