1988 Norwegian First Division

The first Divisjon 1988 was the 44th season of the highest Norwegian Football League and the 26th season under the name 1 Divisjon. The season began on April 30, 1988 and ended on October 9, 1988.

Mode

Twelve teams played in the league in a simple round-trip round against each other, so that each team completed 22 games. The tenth -place and prevent third last had to do to avoid relegation play-offs in addition to the two runners- 2 Divisjon (Group A and B).

This season there was the first time the internationally valid points award: the winner received three points in a draw there was for both teams a point in defeat, there were no points.

Season

Rosenborg BK was the fifth time champion and cup winner for the fourth time. So they made the second time after 1971, the Double.

At the beginning of the season Rosenborg was already slightly ahead, but came to the end of the first round Lillestrøm SK in and took over for four games the lead. But then Rosenborg moved back past them and reached in the last ten games seven wins and two draws. Thus, the projection grew up to ten points. After the 20th Round Rosenborg was finally established as a master.

Two of the three newly promoted ( Strømmen IF and Djerv 1919) had to go back.

Start Kristiansand was able to prevail in the relegation matches and climbed into the top flight at the Norwegian football.
