The U.S. hardcourt champion chip 1988, a WTA hard court tennis tournament for women in San Antonio. It was a tournament of animal -IV category of the WTA Tour in 1988. The tournament took place from 29 February to 5 March 1988.

In individual Steffi Graf won against Katerina Maleewa with 6:4 and 6:1. In doubles, the pair Lori McNeil / Helena Suková won with 6:3, 6:7 and 6:2 against Rosalyn Fairbank / Gretchen Magers.
