1989–90 IHL season
The 1989/90 season was the 45th regular season of the International Hockey League. During the regular season, nine teams denied each of 82 games. In the play-offs, the Indianapolis Ice prevailed and won the first Turner Cup in their history.

Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Saginaw Hawks stopped the game operation.
- The Denver Rangers to Phoenix, Arizona, moved and changed their name to Phoenix Roadrunners.
