1989–90 Serie A (ice hockey) season
The 1989/90 season was the 56th season of the series A1, the highest Italian Hockey League. Master became the total eleventh time in club history the HC Bolzano. The HC Merano descended to the second division.
Mode
In the main round each of the ten teams played a total of 36 games. The top four teams qualified for the playoffs, where the Master was played. The other six teams had to compete for the league in a relegation round. For this, the teams were given half of their main round points as a bonus. The last placed the relegation round rose directly from the second division. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
