1989 IAAF World Cross Country Championships

The 17th IAAF World Cross Country Championships were held at the IAAF Scanvest ring in Stavanger (Norway ) on 19 March 1989. The first time was a race for junior women to the program.

The men started over a distance of 12 km, the women over 6 km, the juniors over 8km and junior women over 4 km.

Individual classification

195 of 200 launched athletes crossed the finish line.

As the only participant from a German-speaking country in the Swiss Markus Graf finished in 100th place in 42:59.
