The 109th U.S. Open 1989 an international tennis tournament and took place from 28 August to 10 September 1989 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Park in New York, USA.

Defender of the single were Mats Wilander in the men's and Steffi Graf in the women. In the men's doubles were Sergio Casal and Emilio Sanchez, in women's doubles Gigi Fernández and Robin White and Mixed Jana Novotná and Jim Pugh, the defending champion.

In the men's singles of the German Boris Becker won against the Czechoslovaks Ivan Lendl, who was already for the eighth time in a row in the final at the tournament. It should be Lendls last finals at the U.S. Open. In the women's Steffi Graf successfully defended her title successfully. The title of the men's doubles brought John McEnroe and Mark Woodforde, in women's doubles won Hana Mandlikova and Martina Navratilova. Robin White, who was a year earlier win the title in women's doubles triumph with Shelby Cannon in mixed doubles.
