1990–91 Soviet League season

The season 1990 /91 Wysschaja League was the 45th season of the highest Soviet Hockey League. The Soviet league title secured for the fourth time Dynamo Moscow, while SKA Leningrad relegation to the second division.

Mode

The 15 teams in the league Wysschaja first played in a common main round in return game against any opponent, bringing the total number of games per team was 28.

Then the ten best teams in the main round played in the finals again in return game against any opponent, while the results were taken from the main round and the point best team in the final round was a Soviet champion.

The five last placed the main round met in the relegation to the ten best second division. All the teams in the relegation denied any 28 games. The top six teams played in the following season in the league Wysschaja, the other nine teams in the second-rate Perwaja league.

For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
