1991–92 Alpenliga season

The 1991/92 season was the first regular edition of the transnational Hockey League contest of the Alps, which was held until 1999, a total of seven times. She was discharged with a total of twenty professional teams from Austria, Italy and Slovenia. First champion was the HC Milano Devils, who prevailed in the final game against the originating also from Italy HC Bolzano.

Participants and mode

In its inaugural season with a total of twenty participating teams the Alps League celebrated the record in this category, which should not be surpassed again. The participating teams were recruited from the participants of each of the top domestic leagues in Austria, Italy and Slovenia. For Austria it was including the riser EK Zell am See seven teams who stood the competition. With a total of ten teams that Italy was half of the participants. Three other teams from Slovenia completed the participants.

It was played in the regular season first a simple round-trip round. The top two teams in each group qualified for the play-offs, which were held in the form of semi-finals and finals respectively as simple game. Added to this was a simple game for third place, which took place between the losers of the semi-finals.
