1991 South American Women's Football Championship

The first Sudamericano Femenino (South American Women's Football Championship) was held in 1991 from April 28 to May 5, 1991 in Brazil. It was played in Maringá. It was the first recognized by FIFA women's football matches in South America. For Chile and Venezuela, it was also the first international match of the women's teams. The winner was the host.

Mode

Only three teams had registered for the tournament. Each team played against each other once. The point- best team was South American champions and qualified for the FIFA Women's World Cup 1991.
