1991 World Sportscar Championship season
The World Sportscar Championship 1991 was the 39th edition of the FIA World Sportscar Championship. It was attended by Group C sports cars, which were divided into two classes. The vehicles of class C1 were possessed naturally aspirated 3.5 -liter displacement, some of which were also used in Formula 1, while in the class started C2 vehicles with turbo engines. Both classes had no individual championship and counted together.

With Mercedes, Jaguar, Peugeot and Mazda were four well-known automobile manufacturers, the rest of the field consisted of private teams that own constructions (eg Konrad KM -011, Brun C91 ) or customer chassis (eg Porsche 962, Spice SE90C ) inserting.

Manufacturers' Championship for race teams
Points each collected the first 10 of a race, in the order 20-15-12-10-8-6-4-3-2-1, with a few exceptions:
- The teams were only given for the highest placed car points for the team title. However, this was not true for the drivers' championship.
- If a car does not have completed 90 % of the race distance, but still end up in the points, neither driver nor team would get points.
It only teams were classified, the accumulated throughout the season championship points.
