Game system of team competitions

The game system for the men's and women's team competitions has changed yet again.

The teams are based on the ranking on the last World Cup classified into " first place winner 16" and "rest".

The 16 winners of the last World Cup, playing in the first round in two groups of eight A and B FFA. The first six teams from Group A and B reach the knockout stages, ie provide 12 participants in the second round.

The rest of the team who did not come in 1989 under the first 16 form eight groups of eight, where it is played against each system after each. The eight winners nor deny after a game with each other, the four winners will qualify for the knockout stages. The four losers contest together with the teams that do not qualify from the group stage, fighting for positions 17 and worse.

There was criticism of this system is that the mating system in the second round is fixed in advance and as tactical considerations, such as deliberate defeats to meet in the second round on pleasant opponent - possible.

The individual team struggles of the men were carried out according to a modified system in which a player denies twin, his two teammates playing together double and one single each.
