1992–93 Open Russian Championship season

The discharge 1992/93 of the Open Russian Hockey Championship (Russian Открытое первенство России / Otkrytoje Perwenstwo Rossii ) was the only season the second- highest Russian ice hockey league under that name. It was subsequently replaced by the Elitnaja League respectively Wysschaja league.

Mode

The season was divided into three sections. In the first round played 49 teams in five regional groups - Centre, West, Povolzhye, Ural and Siberia - Far East - to nine to eleven participants in a four- round, the 26 free places for the second round. For the groups, the five highest point totals qualified; from the group Siberia - Far East the best six.

In the second round were classified into three groups - two with ten and one with six participants - continued to play. The group of six of the members of the group Siberian Far East completed a further four- round, while the combined groups of ten center -west and Povolzhye -Ural played in a double round. From the groups of ten each qualified five teams for the subsequent eighth - and quarter- finals of the play-offs. From the group of six there were two. The three group winners and the second place in the group Povolzhye -Ural received a bye for the knockout stages and were placed directly in the quarterfinals. The eliminated teams of the group center, West, Ural Povolzhye and completed in the same composition placement round.

The eighth - and quarter- finals of the play-offs and the placement matches in the ranks 5 and 7 were held in the mode best-of -three finals and semi -finals in the Best-of -Five mode.
