1992 NHL Expansion Draft

The NHL Expansion Draft 1992 was held on 18 June 1992 by the North American Hockey League NHL. The expansion draft was held, as the NHL has been expanded to two teams and had to be filled with players the squad the team Ottawa Senators and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Regulate

21 of the 22 NHL teams had the right to block any two goalkeepers and 14 field players from their squad, so they were not available in the expansion draft. However, each team was committed at least one goalkeeper to make available, who had graduated in the 1991/92 season at least one game. This clause caused several transfers, as no team wanted to share one of their two first-choice goalkeeper and there were tricks used to satisfy this clause. So it happened that Ray LeBlanc for the Chicago Blackhawks his only game played in his career in the NHL, so Chicago could keep his first two goalkeeper Dominik Hasek and Jimmy Waite. From the San Jose Sharks all the players have been locked since they joined the NHL until the year before.

A total of 42 players were selected, but could any pre-existing team lose only two players. Tampa Bay and Ottawa had to select two goalkeepers, seven defenders and attackers twelve.
