1993 Women's European Volleyball Championship

The European Women's Volleyball in 1993 took place from 24 September to 2 October in Brno instead. Russia recognized as a successor of the Soviet Union continued the winning streak and won the 14th European title.

Mode

The twelve participants were divided into the first round in two groups of six. The group winners and runners reached the semi-finals. The Third and Fourth played to the ranks of five to eight.

Qualification

Czechoslovakia was set as host. The seven best teams in the European championship in 1991 were also automatically qualified. These were Russia (formerly the Soviet Union) as the defending champion, the Netherlands Second, the Third Germany, the fourth in Italy, the Sixth Romania, Bulgaria and the Seventh Eighth Greece.

Twenty other teams played four more places in the finals. In the first qualifying round eight teams played in home and away leg against each other. The four winners were with twelve other four groups of four teams, where each team home and away competing against the three opponents. The group winners to the final round.
