1995–96 Czech Extraliga season

The season 1995/96 was the third regular host of the Czech Extraliga. In the play-off final, last year's winner HC Petra Vsetín sat with 4-1 through against the HC Chemopetrol Litvinov. In the first league of the Czech Republic, the HC and HC Přerov Opava won their respective play-off semi-final, however, was only the HC Opava, the rise in the Extraliga, while the HC and HC Přerov Kometa Brno had to play the course in the first league.

Mode

Due to the increase in the Extraliga to 14 teams, qualifying for the play- offs mode is changed. The 14 teams are divided into two regional groups. In 40 games, all teams play a double round first, so each 13 home and away games. This is followed by a further 7 Home and Away Games within the groups. The teams ranked 1-4 qualify directly for the play- offs, which will be played in best-of- seven- mode. The teams ranked 5-12 determine the Best -of -Five mode, the other 4 participants for the quarter-finals. At the end of the season relegation round takes place, where the two last-place teams in the Extraliga and the winner of the play-off semi-finals the first league to participate. In a double round with twelve games per team, the two losers are determined in the first league.

The crew of the HC Petra Vsetín, who won the Czech championship just a year before, sat down against the HC Chemopetrol Litvinov 4-1 by winning the second title in club history. Guarantor for this success were the Goalkeeper of the Year, Roman Cechmanek, defender Jiří Veber and the superior striker Jiri Dopita.
