Participants and mode

After the year eighteen teams took part in the championship, the number of participants for the current season shrunk to eleven teams. Unchanged remained only the number of participants from Slovenia. The Austrian team of EHC Lustenau was staying voluntarily in the National League after last season and also not therefore took part in the Alps league. New additions were in favor of the EC Graz Kapfenberg and EC. The field of Italian teams, however, had been decimated. Was it still been nine clubs in the previous year, as occurred in this year, only two of the Alpine League. The main reason here for the relatively poor rankings were mentioned, which had reached some of the smaller teams. But financial reasons played a role in some, who could not compete with the arms race listed above all of the VEU Feldkirch.

In the regular season, first a double round-trip round was played, which meant forty games for each team. After the finalists were determined in two tournaments. The two group winners finally came in the finals against each other and met each other twice. The number of wins and a tie at the goal rate determined the master, who finally called again VEU Feldkirch.
