1996 Cricket World Cup
The ICC Cricket World Cup 1996, which was held in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka from 16 February to 17 March 1996 was the sixth Cricket World Cup. The World Cup will be held in the One- Day International format, in which each team plays each innings over a maximum of 50 over. In the final, Sri Lanka defeated the team from Australia.
Participant
As participants were present in addition to the nine nations with test status, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands and Kenya that could prevail in the ICC Trophy in 1994, qualified. The twelve participants were thus:

Venues
As venues six stages were next to 17 stadiums in India, Pakistan and selected in three stages in Sri Lanka.
Format
In two preliminary round groups of six teams against each played, with one win, two points, a draw or no result a points earned. It qualified the first four of each group for the quarter-finals. Meanwhile winners qualified for the two semi-finals, the winners again playing off the final. Overall, there was thus 37 encounters.
