1996 French Open
The 95th French Open 1996 took place from 27 May to 9 June 1996, Paris, France.
It took in the main round of 128 men and women at the individual competitions.
Defender of the single were Thomas Muster in the men's and Steffi Graf in the women. In the men's doubles were Jacco Eltingh and Paul Haarhuis, in women's doubles Gigi Fernández and Natallja Swerawa the defending champions. Larisa Neiland and Todd Woodbridge were the defending champions in the mixed doubles.
In the men's singles Yevgeny Kafelnikov won his first Grand Slam title. In women's singles, there was a rematch of last year's final, and again won Steffi Graf against Arantxa Sanchez Vicario. Also in the men's doubles won Yevgeny Kafelnikov, and at the side of Daniel Vacek. The title in women's doubles went to Lindsay Davenport and Mary Joe Fernández and Patricia Tarabini won in mixed doubles and Javier Frana.
