1996 Major League Soccer season

The first Major League Soccer season began on 6 April 1996 and ended with the final match of the play-offs, the MLS Cup, on October 20, 1996.

DC United won the Cup the first team. They defeated the Los Angeles Galaxy in Foxboro Stadium 3-2 after extra time. The first game in the MLS denied DC United and San Jose Clash on April 6. The Californians won 1-0. First Goalscorer the new league was Eric Wynalda.
